Photos from cruise to Alaska 2 - Skagway

How did the stewardess know I had such a tiny waist?

First view of Skagway. Seemingly when ships came into dock at Skagway the captain of the ship wrote the name of the ship on the cliff face.

The train that took us on The White Pass Scenic Rail trip.

The front of the train as we went round one of the many bends.

This is Dead Man's Rock where 2 railway workers were crushed to death by this huge rock. Their bodies were never removed and the spot is marked with a cross.

These are the views as we made our way up the mountain.

Cantilever bridge.

Flags - America, Alaska, Canada and British Columbia. When we reached the top of the pass we were not allowed off the train because we had passed from Alaska into Canada

Police post - obviously no one at home!

There is a lake under this.

Cantilever bridge on the way down.

Train round the bend.

Tent City on the outskirts of Skagway. Seemingly people come to live here during the summer eventhough it is very expensive.

The Red Onion in Skagway was once a brothel and is now a licensed cafe and brothel museum. The waitresses are dressed in character.
