Arrival in Prince Edward Island

We had to get up early in Dave and Lorna's house so as to get the bed linen and towels washed. I got up just before 6 a.m. and had showered and then shifted JIm from the bed. While I was stripping the bed, I could hear him switching on and off lights. I was wondering what he was at and thought that maybe he wasn't fully awake. Then he appeared saying "There's something wrong with the bathroom light". In fact, the electricity was off! Frantic check of trip switches but no electricity. Now what? No washing or drying, no coffee, no toast ... At 6.10 the electricity came back on so it was all systems go!

The flight from Ottawa to Prince Edward Island was only one and a half hours. Security at the airport was determined to discover what illegal items or substances Jim was carrying. He has learned to be perfectly organised - spare change and mobile phone were in his rucksack so his pockets were empty. He had removed his belt and had only his boarding pass and passport in his shirt pocket. I would have said perfectly prepared. But not the scanner! BLEEP! So the  checking began. Bleep, bleep, bleep - in fact almost continuous bleeps, even when he was scanning his bare legs. He checked all his pockets, even put his hand inside the top of Jim's shorts. Then he put on rubber gloves - I had visions of Jim being led away for a more intimate search! Finally, they were satisfied that he was clean and he was released. Next time I think he should just strip off totally and see if they are satisfied!

Bonnie's cottage is just 10 minutes from the airport and , according to her welcome letter, 10 minutes walk from the city - we will find that out this morning. We found supermarkets easily enough. I'm pleased to be linked up to her wireless internet connection - last night, for some reason, I could not get linked up. Below are photos of our new home.
