Last day in Venice and back to Rovigo

Of course home exchanging always has its drawbacks - the cleaning up. Cleared, cleaned and packed within an hour and off we went to St. Mark's Square to visit the Basilica.

Some of what Jim photoed en route.

On the way revisited the caffe of the "Can't get out" experience and successfully negotiated the sliding door. Just as well because Jim's phone was out of charge!

In St. Mark's Square the length of the queue for the Basilica convinced me that it was worth seeing but not by us!

We  made our way back to the Ghetto and had a lovely and interesting lunch in the kosher restaurant Gam Gam. Here are some more views captured on our last day.

We then collected our luggage and slowly made our way to the train station to get the train to Rovigo. As we emerged onto the platform there were Gloria and Piero at the exact spot! We were driven to their house, had dinner and discovered that instead of 1 night, as planned, we would be staying 4 nights because they had 3 full days sightseeing organised for us. I frantically mentally  assessed the underwear situation (remember we were now 10 days on the road and by the time of getting to Trieste would be a fortnight away). Gloria to the rescue and and all is sweet!
