Lake Garda

On the road by 9am and en route for Lake Garda. After a brief pause at Lugana to buy wine, our first stop was Sirmione - Nan had enjoyed it on her trip last year. We walked and took photos.

The scenery around Lake Garda is absolutely beautiful but too many tourists think the same! Then we made our way to a restaurant, off the beaten track, that G. and P. have been frequenting for 40 years or so. Again, Jim and I would not have found it. There we had homemade ravioli to start with, followed by fish from Lake Garda - perch I think. This was followed by copious amounts of grappa and limoncello which I sipped. I am not sure what the drinking and driving laws are in Italy but I know that Jim will not be taking a leaf from Piero's book when we are finally left to our own devices!

The walls of the restaurant were decorated with jigsaws of famous paintings.

This was followed by a scenic trip along part of the lake, a short walk around Garda and a snooze at every possible opportunity.

Seagulls feature in all our adventures!

It was a relief when we returned to Rovigo to have a small amount of spaghetti al oglio e aglio and a salad with just a little wine!
