I wanted to go back
to Puy Mary as the scenery en route is possibly the nicest. The
Jordanne Valley is very beautiful. When we stopped at Puy Mary everything was silent, despite there being lots of people all set
with their walking poles and rucksack to climb to the summit. The
silence was intensified by the non-stop carillon of the cow bells. At
first we could not see the cattle but a bit farther up we could see
them grazing down below. It was only 11am so we continued on, the
plan being to go to Le Lioran but Nuvi was putting us onto an unpaved
road so we just continued on down from Puy Mary and finally Nuvi
picked up Murat which Jim said we should head for – I couldn’t
see the point of that as it was north. Anyway, Jim knows best and we
ended up on another hair-raising road. Finally we reached a village
with a sign that pointed to Muarat back the way we had come. I knew
it was going to put us on an unpaved road again and suggested that we
go to Salers. That brought us through the Col de Mouronne – a much
more beautiful road where we had been before on the day that we tried
to visit the Buron and have a repas des buronniers. Anyway that
brought us home where we started the clear up.
Back in Aurillac.
