We arrived a bit early
in Arpajon as Olivier, our non-simultaneous exchanger, couldn’t meet us until after 6pm. We wandered
about, found a bar and had a coffee. Then we drove a bit towards Rodez
to pass time.
We had difficulty
finding the house as Nuvi said it was on the left-hand side. We found 55
and 57 but not 56. We walked about searching and a woman came to our
aid explaining that the houses on the right were even numbers and on the left
uneven. I had phoned Olivier and he stood outside the house so we
would find it. The side and back of the house are on the road and the
front is inside electric gates so there was plenty of space to park. He first
of all showed us the outdoor amenities including an above ground pool
and a trampoline neither of which we intend to use! Inside there is a
dining room to the left and living room to the right. Connecting them
is a small kitchen at the back. Upstairs, following a similar
configuration there is the master bedroom, a bathroom, another
bedroom, used as an office and gym, with access to the bathroom so 2
doors to the bathroom but neither closes properly – a bit
disconcerting if the second bedroom were to be used as a bedroom.
Lots of whistling and singing required! On n the floor above are 3
further bedrooms, a toilet and shower room.
Olivier spent a good
while explaining everything to us. He had left a Truffade for us,
salad etc, wines and 2 beers , gateaux d’aperitif and biscuits so
we were well provided for. We heated up the truffade – potatoes and
cantal cheese – very nice but heavy. In fact, because it was mashed
potatoes I think it was more Aligot than truffade. We left the bedroom
window open all night and so were not too hot. I did enough unpacking
to get us through the morning and got a washing done which dried
overnight. Then we got set up on Netflix – great!
