August 18th 2019 - Wasserburg, Tittmoning, Burghausen

Today we took a bit of a tour visiting three towns - Wasserburg, Titthoning and Burghausen. Wasserburg am Inn is set on the river Inn, almost an island on the Inn, and is one of the most historic towns in Old Bavaria. The buildings are beautiful and it's a very interesting town to walk around.

This is the Kernhaus - one of the most beautiful rococo facades in Southern Germany.

the first Church we went into was Frauenkirche, Church of Our Lady, the oldest church in the town.

Above, the river Inn. This is the bridge over the Inn spanning it at its narrowest part connects the opposite sides of the town.

The Bridge Gate

Max Emanuel Chapel. This little Chapel was named after the elector Max Emanuel who set out from the shore of the river Inn to go to court meetings, weddings, war campaigns etc. It was established in 1716 and later destroyed by floods. It was rebuilt by the Mason's Guild which continues to maintain it.

After pottering about for some timer in Wasserburg we headed off to Tittmoning, a lovely Bavarian village with a castle up the hill.

Finally we made our way to Burghausen which is very beautiful but also very popular. We could noty find parking so we will go back another day.

Back at the house I embarked on cooking dinner - pork fillet with a mushroom sauce, spaetzle and kohl rabi. It's a bit stressful getting used to someone else's kitchen.

Jim had turned on the lights in the winter garden - basically a conservatory - but couldn't turn them off. He was willing to go to bed leaving them on!! I persevered and finally succeeded - they will not be turned on again! I had another bad night - need an extra pillow but none available so I used the duvet but got a bit chilly when it started to rain.
