Pont du Gard and Uzes

Monday May 16th
This was the day we had set aside for the Pont du Gard and a very impressive aqueduct it is too! The centre is well set up for tourists and we enjoyed the film show of the history of the aqueduct so much that we sat through it a second time. I now know quite a bit about aqueducts!

First view!

The view up the Gardon river is very pretty.

In the museum I donned a suit of armour!

The public toilets - in pristine condition (unlike many French loos) probably because of people’s disinclination to perform together!

Views of the pont on the way back to the car.

A teddy bear emporium in the town of Uzes, not far from the Pont du Gard.

A fountain in Uzes.

We went to the Jardin Medieval in the centre of Uzes but you would need to be really into medicinal plants etc to get the full value of it. I liked these poppies though!

There were little sculptures like this - no explanation but a lot of debauchery is suggested!

                                    Or total innocence?

There were 2 exhibitions in the lower floor of the towers in the garden. One was sculptures made of cardboards which were very interesting.

This was the cheapest one at 400 euro!

The second was paintings:
more debauchery!

The bell tower of the Cathedral where we parked.

Frescoes in the Cathedral.

And then home!
