Basovizza and Koper (Capodistria)

It was time for Jim to get back to driving so we decided to go to Basovizza and look for the war memorial that Gloria had told us about. We set out quite gingerly with Nove, when she woke up, in charge. No problems getting to Basovizza but we couldn't find the particular memorial we were looking for. But we found this at a Church:

We walked about in search but to no avail. However, we were on the road to Pesek which is the border with Slovenia and where the petrol is much more reasonable than in Italy, or in Ireland for that matter. Tank full, we headed for Koper (Capodistria).. I inputted a street name into Nuvi and lo and behold we found ourselves within easy parking to Tito Square (Titov Trg). Clearly Tito is still respected unlike most other dictators.

There was a cafe directly opposite so morning coffee was called for. By the time it arrived lunch was called for! While waiting we contented ourselves with looking at the various elements of the square.

Then we made our way through the narrow streets to the seafront to choose a place for lunch. Jim just had to have the Slovenian dish Cevapcicce which we both pronounced as good and worth getting to cook ourselves.

2 of numerous national war heroes
By now, having had a late lunch a wandered about a bit, it was too late to do the rest of the Slovenian Istrian coast so it was back home and to the supermarket for nibbles for supper.
