And more Venice

Today was our opportunity to visit the islands. We got the vaporetta at Sant'Alvise to Fondamenta Nove from where we headed for Murano. There we admired the beautiful Murano glass and exclaimed at the prices. One shop was devoted to black and white glass which was exquisite but way beyond my means.

We had a coffee and escaped (Jim's word - I think he was afraid that I was tempted to invest!) to Burrano where we admired the brightly coloured houses along the canals and found a nice lunching place from where we could admire the lace on display. Again no investment!

Our plan had been to go to Torcello but we had walked so much at this stage that my foot could take no more. We returned home by vaporetto and foot and had a nice evening meal at Le Quaranta Ladrone just at the end of our calle.
