August 26th 2019 - Konigsee

Last evening I made flammekuchen for the first time and I was delighted with my attempt.

Our plan for today was a boat trip on Konigsee in the extreme southeast of Bavaria near the Austrian border. We set off before 9am to get there as early as possible. The journey got increasingly more scenic the closer we got to Shonau am See from where we would take the boat. We parked in one of the huge (packed) car parks and the lake was 5 minutes away up a shopping street which was capitalising on all the tourists. there were huge queues for the ticket office but eventually we got tickets for the trip at 12.35. Jim got himself a bratwurst and I got an ice-cream. The boat trip was on electric boat and was very quiet and very slow. Some people got off at Bartholemy, St. Bartholemew's Church, which can only be accessed from the lake. Everyone got off at the last stop and we got the return trip.

During the trip the boatman played his trumpet to call forth the Konigsee echo - amazing!

I was tempted to encourage Jim to buy himself some lederhosen.

A beautiful day in beautiful surroundings!
