September 18th 2017 - Leiden

It was raining when we got up and the forecast was for more of the same but we had to go somewhere so decided on Leiden. Got petrol and got rid of recycling and bottles and went to the supermarket. Then off to Leiden in terrible rain. we managed to get parked and set off on foot to see what was to be seen. Leiden is the place to visit in spring - the tulip season. We were a bit late for that! We did part of the Leiden Loop. However it was a bit unpleasant in the rain. Had coffee and went back home.

We went in to Hartebrugkerk. It is a Catholic Church with a Masonic symbol.

The Morspoort Gate is a beautiful national monument with its striking cupola ans nice entrance.

The De Put Windmill on the north bank of the Rhine.

The rain finally chased us so we got back to the car and returned to Gouda. Later in the evening we went in to Gouda to check out the railway station for our planned trip to Amsterdam when Mary arrives. Just look at the number of bicycles!

We strolled about different parts of Gouda to see places we had not yet seen.

As if we didn't know Gouda is famous for cheese!

Outside the Lego shop.

Did you know that?
