Castle Howard, York

I had hoped to get to Castle Howard so I was very pleased when Jim and Brian came back in time for us to go there for lunch and for a really good walk in the grounds.

The view as we made our way up the long drive.

The Atlas Fountain

View towards the Mausoleum.

The Temple of the Four Winds.

Not sure what he's at!

If there is a sign saying Wet Paint Jim will be sure to touch it. When he was told not to put him hand into the sprinkles in the Chocolate museum of course he put his hand into them. So what would you expect when he is told to keep off the steps!

He thought he would get away with it but I gave him a right telling off!

View from the Polar Bear Path towards the house.

Carefully following the polar bear tracks!

On my way to the Great Lake - the other two are lagging behind.

Lazy people took the train!

View on the way back from the Great Lake.

In the rose garden.

Smelling the roses!

Lost and abandoned!

Final view as we left. Castle Howard is a great day out. We did not go for a tour of the house nor did we pay to go into the walled garden but, all in all, we had a great afternoon.

In order not to make a mess in Barnby Moor by cooking we went out for a meal in The Star in Sancton. It is an excellent restaurant and easily the best meal we had during our stay in Yorkshire.
