September 4th - Western Valleys

Today was Brian’s birthday so sent an early text to reassure him that we were not so distracted by the beautiful scenery that we forgot! Because Eric was coming the following weekend we went in search of the Carrefour outside Jaca thinking it might have a greater selection of things that I could cook. We retraced part of our journey of yesterday and turned right at Puente La Reina de Jaca to check out the Western Valleys.and traveled to Hecho and Anso and then south again to Berdun. The trips into the villages were narrow and twisty and a bit nerve-wracking. The scenery was lovely. We were looking forward to the open air sculpture museum at Hecho but, unfortunately, being Monday, it was closed. However, because it was outdoor it was possible to wander about.

We had hoped to visit the Ethnological Museum in Anso but ... it was Monday! We contented ourselves with a look around.

None of the villages presented us with a lunch venue so we stopped at a restaurant on the road back to Jaca. We had great difficulty finding the Carrefour and were disappointed, when we did find it, to discover that it was no better than the Mercadona outside Sabinanigo.
