A day in the Rosses in Co. Donegal

We took the road from Ballybofey to Fintown, along the river Finn and to Lough Finn.

The weather was so beautiful that Dungloe, which has never impressed me in the past, looked beautiful. At Burtonport the ferry was just leaving for Arranmore.

Jim had finally agreed to bring me to Cruit Island, a place of which I have many fond childhood memories. The Golf Club is situated in the most beautiful headland with sea all around. Dolphins can often be seen in the waters. None today though!

En route again we went into Loughanure, again on a lovely lake but we missed the viewpoint from which to take a photo. We returned to Dungloe and took the road back to Doochary from which we turned left for Letterkenny. This was a very minor road that took us through the Derryveagh mountains towards Glenveagh. It was an absolute treat. We stopped at Lough Barra to enjoy the view.

 This road took us past the entrance from the Glen for the 8km walk to Glenveagh that we often do on a Saturday or Sunday. To do that walk we get a bus in the morning from Glenveagh and are dropped off for the wonderful Glen walk to Glenveagh Castle.

There's nowhere better than Co. Donegal when the sun shines!
